Contrast of Colors
The dark face of deity’s contrast with the white surroundings. As a result, the statue draws in the attention to the details and intricate designs of the deity. The color black not only contrast with the white surroundings but also with the typical connotations that are associated with those colors. White is seen as the color of purity and holiness whereas, the color black is seen as sinister and dangerous. Whereas this somber statue shows no sign of a menacing atmosphere. The calmness of the deity’s face shows an aura of serenity. The dark color does not define what the statue portrays because although the colors bring in certain illusions and expectations to our surroundings, it is not always accurate. Only by paying attention to more than what meets the eyes, than people are able to see what lies beyond than the first impression. People must not let their own impressions and assumptions cloud their sight from truly seeing who a person can be. Despite the dark color tones of the statue, the peacefulness of the face differs from the usual expectations of the dark color.
