Communion was a video performance where Alan Powell, in an investigation of both time and self-portraiture, attempted to stand still for 24 hours while being filmed by a video time-lapse camera and 1/2eiaj time-lapse videotape recorder borrowed from a local bank. The piece was performed at the AnyArt Gallery in the fall of 1977 (Oct 8, 1977). The video condensed the 24 hours to a one-hour black and white videotape. At the end of 24 hours, a breakfast was held for the community.
