We are back in Cozumel, Mexico for a second year. We are building a hurricane shelter for the community. Even though the Island is booming with tourist trade there is a great need for good housing and a safe place during hurricane season. The people here are Mayan. They speak Mayan and Spanish. On the worksite we have interpretors who translate from English to Spanish to Mayan. Connie made a tee shirt for the group using Mayan calander symbols. The Mayan workers loved it and wore their shirts often.
