From the late 1990s – 2010, Alan Powell was heavily involved in the concept of the web being an electronic space for art. Working in conservative mediums such as painting, Alan Powell wanted to explore how a life functions in time. During those years, Powell painted everyday for 3 years. Some of it was trying to address a deep depression Powell experienced in 1997 and turmoil of the analog electronic world becoming completely digital. The web projects were a fight to keep the raw nature of the hand-drawn image alive within electronic space.
